ABOUT THE SHOW
Welcome to Hopewood Falls, Vermont, where Christmas magic is everywhere, snowstorms arrive at exactly the right moment, big-city professionals discover what really matters, handsome strangers have suspiciously royal backgrounds, and falling in love before Christmas is practically mandatory.
The Holiday Channel Christmas Movie Wonderthon crams the sugary goodness of six made-for-TV Christmas movies into one hilarious evening. Romance novelists battle writer’s block, secret princes search for true love, a Christmas tree farm is threatened, a future Santa questions his destiny, and just about everyone has a perfectly timed romantic encounter. As the stories collide, the familiar clichés of holiday movies are pushed to delightfully ridiculous extremes.
This ensemble comedy is a loving parody of holiday rom-coms, packed with broad characters, rapid-fire comedy, physical humor, romance, and plenty of Christmas spirit.
CHARACTERS
NARRATOR 1
One of our guides through the increasingly ridiculous world of Hopewood Falls. Also plays multiple supporting characters, including Prancer, Girl 1, TSA Agent, and others.
NARRATOR 2
Our other guide through the holiday movie madness. Also takes on multiple supporting characters, including Vixen, Girl 2, Marlena, and others.
HOLLY
Owner of the Evergreen Inn in Hopewood Falls, Vermont. She has a heart of gold and, naturally, finds herself at the center of a Christmas romance.
BRETT
Stranded by a snowstorm, but secretly a prince from Artemisia, a tiny aristocratic European country no one has ever heard of. Luckily, he’s rich, y’all.
JOY
A romance novelist visiting the inn in hopes of breaking through her writer’s block.
PAUL
A rival romance novelist running his own writer’s retreat. He’s kind of a self-important jerk, but with the love of the right woman, he’s probably a pretty nice guy.
CAROL
A war reporter home for the holidays who has grown tired of big-city life.
JACKSON
35, a veterinarian who owns two golden retrievers. Because, of course he does.
MERRY
In town searching for the perfect Christmas tree for a huge Christmas celebration in the big city. She’s a real estate lawyer and businessperson who absolutely does not have time for love. Surely that will remain true.
BLAKE
The rugged owner of a Christmas tree farm. He’s heartbroken, handsome, and exactly where you’d expect to find him.
KRIS
The son of the town’s former Santa Claus. Kris has troubles, y’all. Troubles. He’s currently working as a real estate lawyer and businessperson, but Christmas may have other plans for him.
NOELLE
Owner of the oldest Christmas ornament boutique in town. She’s charged with helping Kris quit his job and become a full-time Santa. She’s filled to the brim with Christmas spirit.
SVEN
The secret prince of Broxtenburg, another tiny aristocratic European country no one has ever heard of. Shocker, he’s also rich as heck.
RITA
A movie star filming a movie in Hopewood Falls while pretending to be an ordinary girl.
LAERTES
The Real Estate Developer Guy. We do not like him.
BRIDGETTE
The red-headed best friend of all the women. Why not.
JIMMY
Holly’s ex-boyfriend, who also manages to be the ex-boyfriend of every other woman. Because why not. Jimmy may be played by the same actor playing Laertes.
The script allows for flexible and expandable casting, with opportunities for an ensemble and additional performers.
PERFORMANCE DATES
December 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 & 20, 2026
Auditioners should be prepared to disclose all potential rehearsal and performance conflicts at auditions.
Come ready to play, make bold choices, embrace the Christmas movie clichés, and have some fun. Whether you love holiday movies, love making fun of holiday movies, or somehow manage to do both at the same time, we want to see you at auditions!
