There will be a short dance audition.
Be prepared to read from the script.

For those auditioning only for the Choir, you will be released before we move on to the reading portion of auditions and you are not required to dance.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring water or a light snack if needed.

Callbacks
Callbacks may be held on Saturday, April 25 for select roles.

Rehearsal Commitment

Rehearsals are expected to take place 4 to 5 days per week. A detailed schedule will be provided after casting, and conflicts should be disclosed at auditions.

Roles Available

QUASIMODO (M)
The bell ringer of Notre Dame Cathedral. He has a curved spine affecting posture and gait and partial deafness from years of ringing the bells. Physically strong, curious, and intelligent. Comfortable with his gargoyle and statue “friends” in the bell tower, yet nervous and withdrawn around other people, especially his uncle Frollo and Esmeralda.

DOM CLAUDE FROLLO (M)
Archdeacon of Notre Dame. A righteous man driven by duty and strict devotion to the Church. Possesses a strong, imposing presence and commands obedience. Ashamed of his attraction to Esmeralda, he channels his desire into persecution of her and the Romani people.

CLOPIN (F/M/N)
King of the Gypsies and a clever, agile entertainer who commands the crowd on Topsy Turvy Day. Fiercely protective of Esmeralda and the Romani people, Clopin is shrewd, charismatic, and authoritative.

PHOEBUS DE MARTIN (M)
Captain of the Cathedral Guard. Charming, arrogant, and conflicted between duty and conscience. Haunted by years of war, Phoebus initially indulges in pleasure before falling for Esmeralda and ultimately defying Frollo.

ESMERALDA (F)
A free spirited shey, a young unmarried Romani woman, who supports herself through dance. Independent, outspoken, and courageous. She stands up for the Roma and for Quasimodo, falls for Phoebus despite her instincts, and refuses Frollo even when her life is at stake.

CONGREGATION
We are looking to cast approximately 12 to 15 performers.
Includes JEHAN FROLLO (M), FATHER DUPIN (M/F/N), FLORIKA (F), FREDERICK (M/F/N), KING LOUIS XI (M/F/N), OFFICIAL (M/F/N), MADAM (F), SAINT APHRODISIUS (M/F/N), GARGOYLES (M/F/N), SOLDIERS (M/F/N), PEOPLE OF PARIS (M/F/N), and ENSEMBLE.

CHOIR (M/F/N)
We are looking to cast approximately 15 to 20 singers.
A separate ensemble from the Congregation. Comprised of highly skilled singers comfortable with a wide range of musical styles, ranging from Gregorian chant to contemporary pop. The Choir remains outside the dramatic action, standing onstage and singing from choir books.
