Taught by experienced and passionate music educators Victoria Peterson and Stephanie Johnson, this program will help students build confidence, learn essential skills, and discover the magic of musical theater.
Program Details
- Who Should Join:
- Ages 8/9 to 17
- Beginners with little to no knowledge of reading music or using healthy vocal techniques
- Class Size: Limited to 25 students to ensure personalized attention.
- Schedule:
- When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, February 18 – March 27
- Time: 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
- Duration: 12 classes
- Location: The Gaslight
- Cost: $200 per student
- $75 non-refundable deposit required upon enrollment
- Remaining balance due at the first class (flexible payment plans available)
- Sibling Discount: $100 off for families enrolling multiple students
- Supplies Needed:
- Whiteboard, markers, standard paper, pencils, and crayons
What Will Students Learn?
Students will explore the fundamentals of singing and musical performance in a fun and supportive environment, including:
- Basics of music reading and writing (treble clef, solfege, and rhythms)
- Healthy singing techniques (breath control, pitch, and tone)
- Choreographed movement paired with singing
- Performing folk songs and musical theater pieces
- Building rhythm awareness and confidence
Exciting Final Showcase!
The program concludes with a live showcase where students will demonstrate their progress and perform for an audience. Highlights include:
- “Do Re Mi” from The Sound of Music
- A group body rhythm performance
- A musical round and boom whacker song
- Advanced group piece for experienced participants
- Music-reading and rhythm-writing demonstrations
