Spring Break Camp

 

Registration for Spring Break Theater Day Camp is now underway! Youth & Teen Theater Camp provides a fun, supportive, safe, disciplined environment to encourage the imagination of youth ages 8-18.  Classes will build theatrical skills, increase attention, focus and self-confidence, develop cooperative skills, instill respect and empathy for others.

 

  • 9:00am to ­ 4:00pm Mon-­Fri
  • Showcase Acting in Original One Act Play
  • Participation showcasing each child’s talent
  • Crafts will be targeted for camp theme

Friday Night Showcase performance (Free to the Public)

  • $275 if registered before March 1st ($50 off) $325 Late Registration  $50 Sibling Discounts Available.

Camp Instructor: Tammy Francis is a Lockhart resident who has been part of the Gaslight Baker Theatre for 15 years and is currently on GBT’s Board of Directors and chairs the Education Committee. She studied acting and radio television in college and has extensive theatre experience. She received a Best Actress award for her role in Our Town. She’s been awarded the Austin Broadway Award for Best Set Design and Best Costuming for Godspell. She recently directed Elf: The Musical, breaking every record at GBT which featured many current and former Youth and Teen campers. She is also a substitute teacher for the Lockhart Independent School District This is her twelfth year with educational programming.

Camp Assistant Instructors: Ryan Melby is a Lockhart resident who has been involved with the Gaslight Baker Theatre for 5 years, and now is a part of the Education Committee. Ryan is currently a student at Texas State University, and in his last year of college. He is getting his teaching certification in Theatre to become a High School Theatre Teacher. Ryan has received multiple Best Overall Performer awards in his High School career in One-Act Play competition for Eurydice, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Ryan has been a student and a camp mentor for many GBT camps over the years and he is thrilled to be a part of the team and to lead upcoming camps.

Camp Assistant Instructors: Gareth Schulte is a student at Texas State University pursuing a BFA Theatre degree with a minor in dance. He grew up in Lockhart and has been an active volunteer with the Gaslight Baker Theatre for over 10 years in various roles. These roles include acting, attending as well as mentoring for summer camps, selling concessions, stage handing, stage managing, and shadowing directors. He has done it ALL! He has been enthralled by his first camp at the GBT which led him to do Cheaper by the Dozen. He has done many shows outside of the GBT through Lockhart high school’s theatre department, and now into college where he has performed in cabarets, short films, and made his directing debut by directing another students original 10 minute play.

 

Several teen mentors will be returning this year to assist with the youth and help lead improvisation games and facilitate one-on-one review and assistance.

 

What Students need:

  • a sack lunch and drink and two snacks each day.
  • closed toed shoes (no flip­flops or sandals)
  • dress comfortably, shorts under skirts.
  • Special fun Dress up  Days: Nerd Day, Pajama Day, Crazy Hair /Hat Day, etc.
  • Email will go out to parents stating Dress-up days. We encourage campers to dress up. Teachers and mentors dress up!

 

Class size is limited to 16 TOTAL campers. These fill up fast.
