Step into the Spotlight This Summer!

Join us for an exciting summer at the Gaslight Baker Community Theatre’s Drama Camp! Our immersive, hands-on programs will have young performers writing and performing original monologues, sharpening their improv skills, and bringing scenes to life. Along the way, they’ll build confidence, creativity, and stage presence in a supportive, fun environment.

Through engaging workshops and expert instruction, campers will learn to:

  • Develop compelling characters
  • Think on their feet with improv
  • Collaborate effectively with peers

Summer Musical Camp: DEAR EDWINA
June 30 – July 11 (No camp July 4)

Early Learner Camp

Grades: Kinder – 2nd (Ages 5-7)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Young performers will explore the basics of storytelling, character creation, and improv through engaging games and creative crafts. Each child will shine in a special Friday night showcase for family and friends.

Registration:

Daily Highlights:

  • Character building and storytelling games
  • Hands-on crafts related to theatre
  • Introduction to improv and acting basics
  • Team-building activities
  • Friday Night FREE Show at 6:00 pm (Open to the public)

Camp Details:

  • Limited enrollment: 20-22 students
  • Teen assistants to guide and support campers

What to Bring:

  • Sack lunch, drink, and two snacks (NO MICROWAVE)
  • Closed-toed shoes (no flip-flops or sandals)
  • Comfortable clothes (shorts under skirts)
  • Fun dress-up days: Nerd Day, Pajama Day, Crazy Hair/Hat Day

Elementary Camp

Grades: 3rd – 5th (Ages 8-11)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

Campers will dive deeper into acting, stage movement, and improvisation, culminating in a special monologue performance during the Friday Night Showcase.

Daily Highlights:

  • Acting techniques and stage vocal training
  • Introduction to improv and characterization
  • Theatre-themed crafts
  • Equal participation for all campers
  • Friday Night FREE Show at 7:00 pm (Open to the public)

Camp Details:

  • Limited enrollment: 20-22 students
  • Four teen assistants for additional support

What to Bring:

Junior Camp

Grades: 6th – 8th (Ages 12-15)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

This camp builds on foundational acting techniques with a focus on advanced improvisation and character development. Students will perform original monologues in the Friday Night Showcase.

Daily Highlights:

  • Intermediate acting techniques and improv
  • Character analysis and stage vocal training
  • Theatre-related crafts (masks, puppets, and more)
  • Equal participation in performances
  • Friday Night FREE Show at 7:00 pm (Open to the public)

Grades: 9th – 12th (Ages 15-18)

Advanced actors will refine their craft with in-depth character work, scene-writing, and emotional recall techniques. The camp culminates in a dynamic Friday Night Showcase.

  • Introduction to set and prop design

Summer Musical Camp: DEAR EDWINA

Ages: 7-16
Schedule: June 30 – July 11 (No camp July 4), Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

This 8-day intensive camp trains students in all aspects of musical theatre, including acting, singing, and choreography. Campers will audition for roles and work together to stage a full production of Dear Edwina: The Musical!

About the Show: Follow Edwina Spoonapple, a young advice-giver extraordinaire, who uses her musical talents to help friends and neighbors with their everyday dilemmas.

Daily Highlights:

  • Audition preparation and role assignments
  • Acting, vocal training, and choreography
  • Scene development and character work
  • Public performance on the final Saturday

Camp Details:

  • All registered students must audition; all who audition will be cast
