Spring Break Camp

 

Registration for Spring Break Theater Day Camp is now underway! Youth & Teen Theater Camp provides a fun, supportive, safe, & disciplined environment to encourage the imagination of youth ages 8-18.  Classes will build theatrical skills, increase attention, focus and self confidence, develop cooperative skills, instill respect and empathy for others.

 

About:

  • Camp runs March 11-15 9am to 4pm
  • Showcase Acting in One Act Play
  • Participation showcasing each child’s talent
  • Crafts will be targeted for camp theme
  • Saturday Matinee FREE Performance to the public Show 1pm
  • $250 if registered before Feb 28th ($50 off) $300 Late Registration  $50 Sibling Discounts Available.
  • Partial & Full Scholarships available with volunteer hours

 

Cost:

  • $250 if Registered before February 28th
  • $300 February 28th to March 10th

What Students need:

  • Sack Lunch, 2 drinks, and 2 snacks per day
  • Closed toed shoes (no flip­flops or sandals)
  • Dress comfortably, shorts under skirts.
  • Special Dress-up  Days: Nerd Day, Pajama Day, Crazy Hair /Hat Day, etc.
    • Email will go out to parents stating Dress-up days. We encourage campers to dress up. Teachers and mentors dress up!

 

 

 

Class size is limited to 16 TOTAL campers. These fill up fast.

Camp Instructor: Ella McCarthy, is a Lockhart resident and LHS graduate who has been a camp mentor for nine years and this will be her fourth year as Camp Instructor. As well as a LISD substitute teacher she has many acting accolades under her belt. She is currently pursuing a degree in Theatre at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin.

Camp Assistant Instructor: Melissa Hardaway is a Lockhart resident and has taught at Lockhart Highschool for 15 years, coaching UIL Debate, Extempt, and Oral Interp with students achieving regional and state levels. She continues to sing, act, dance and Assistant Direct at GBT and is currently on the Executive Committee for the Board of Directors as Secretary

Camp Facilitator: Tammy Francis, is the current Education Chairperson and will assist Ella & Melissa in any administrative duties and be on call to assist with any challenges with the camp. She has been part of the Gaslight Baker Theatre since 2010.

Back-up Facilitator: Liza McCarthy has a Master’s in Fine Arts and has been involved with the theatre since 2012. She is also a Fine Arts teacher with the Lockhart Independent School District. She will be on call to assist with any challenges that might arise during the camp.

There will be several teen mentors returning this year to assist with the youth and help lead improvisation games and facilitate one-on-one review and assistance.
